Boeing Timeline

This large environmental graphic was part of the Boeing tent at the Experimental Aircraft Association's AirVenture festival in Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. The mural-sized print shows the company histories of Boeing, Jeppesen, and Aviall.

I completed this project as part of my internship at Jeppesen, a Boeing Company.

Background

Context

The EAA AirVenture is an annual festival held in Osk Kosh, Wisconsin. The festival is for both aviation enthusiasts and industry experts alike. Many attendees fly their own airplanes to the airfield where the event is hosted. This trade show is a major opportunity for Jeppesen, Aviall, and Boeing to showcase their accomplishments and build their brands

Goals

  • Tell the story of all three companies.

  • Present the history as a shared one.

  • Educate and delight vistors

The Project

The final design served as a backdrop to the main level in the tent. Visitors could walk and view the timeline to learn more about highlights about all three companies’ long, storied histories. The Boeing tent received thousands of visitors during the multi-day festival.

The Process

I chose to split the timeline into decades to make the long, rich histories of the companies easier to digest. I chose the tile layout to create a collage feeling that fits in well with the clean company brand standards. It was also important to present the three companies as one unit as they are all a part of the Boeing Global Services family. If they were shown as three separate timelines, they would've seemed like three independent companies. The slogan, “The Future is Built Here”, was provided by the main Boeing office in Seattle
