Robuck

Robuck is an antique furniture seller out of Atlanta, Georgia. They needed a new e-commerce site to showcase and sell their fine furniture to interior designers and consumers.

The site employs a minimalist design as to not distract from their luxurious products. The site is meant to act like an art gallery where customers can appreciate what they are viewing before they buy.

Background

Problem

Robuck’s old site was out of date and was only partially functional. The client also did not like the design and was hoping to move to a more elegant, minimalist aesthetic.

They chose to migrate to Shopify, and needed me to help move their data over, setup their storefront, and add some additional custom functionality.

Goals

  • Move Robuck to Shopify.

  • Redesign site to be more minimalist and elegant.

  • Add custom functionality, like tearsheets and product attributes.

The Project

Robuck needed a site with a simple, yet elegant, design that would showcase their antique furniture and allow customers to easily purchase those items. The site uses a simple, high contrast aesthetic to compliment the large and beautiful photos of their products.

Category Page

The plain category page allows for each product to speak for itself and draws the user in to view more about each unique item.

Product Page

Here, the user can learn more about the item through photos and its description. Some key custom features are the dimensions under the description and the ability to download a tearsheet. The dimensions required some customization to the Shopify admin and front end. The tearsheet allow the user to download and print a pdf of the product page. This is an important part of the interior designer’s user story.

In Place Page

This slider showcases Robuck’s products in other people’s designs. This gives context to each item and lets customers see what some of these items would look like in their own rooms. The images are form interior design websites and magazines, so it also doubles as a portfolio for Robuck.

The Process

This project required working with the client’s need on several fronts. As the sole developer on this project, I had to handle everything the client needed from data migration, front end edits, and design. Close collaboration was the key to success in this case.
